Where Can I Use Advanced Targeting?
The two places you can use Advanced Targeting are:
- Targeting your Campaigns and Ads
- Reports like Inventory Forecasts
To access Advanced Targeting when creating or editing the Targeting settings of a Campaign or Ad, you must click Enabled on the Advanced Targeting section as shown here.
To access Advanced Targeting in the Reports where it is offered, you must click Enabled on the Advanced Targeting section as shown here.
Building your Advanced Audience Target
A Note on Audience Templates - Building an Audience Template requires that you build your Advanced Audience Target on the Audience Templates page, you can no longer create an Audience Template in the Campaign/Ad or Report's Advanced Targeting Subsections. The process of choosing your segments to build an audience remains the same. See: Audience Templates
There are a variety of ways to build an Advanced Audience Target to suit your needs.
- You can include and exclude demographics
- You can add demographics together to narrow your targeting window to very specific audience
- You can create advanced audience targets that choose from one or another set of demographics in addition to a specific set
- You can exclude groups that may fall into one of the larger demographics you have chosen to target and more
Once you have enabled the Advanced Targeting section you must first choose the targeting action using the drop down menu at the top of the Audience subsection.
Choose whether to Target listeners who fit into Any of the segments you choose, All of the segments you choose, or if you want to Exclude the segments you choose.
Press +Add which will open up the Audience Segments selection window, you can also see your previously made Audience Templates in this window.
From this window you can begin to build your target audience.
- In the Search bar you can type in keywords to search for specific demographics.
- In the Providers drop down menu you can choose to only see specific third party providers' audience segments.
- The Audience Segments window also displays the costs associated with targeting each segment to both video gateway, and instream audio ads.
Using the search bar, type in your desired targets. Once you find the audience you would like to target click on the desired segment name, this will add it to your targeted audience.
Once you have completed your selections, press Close, this will bring you back to your Advanced Target screen where you can see the segments you selected.
If you need to double check your segment selections you can click on the purple view icon to see what the segment contains.
Individually chosen Audience Segments will save as a purple Segments and Audience Templates that are chosen will show as green Templates.
Clicking on the green View button for Templates will show you which Audience Segments are included in that Audience Template.
Once the selected audience and targeting action (is Any, is All, Excludes) is completed to your satisfaction you can continue your other targeting selections like Device or Geo-Targeting and then create your Campaign, Ad, or Generate your report.
Additional Advanced Audience Target Building
If you would like to add additional subsections to further narrow your targeting you can choose from adding two types of Advanced Audience Target subsections:
+ And Row adds conditions that the selected segments must meet in addition to the ones you chose in the previous section. You must still choose the targeting action: Is any of, Is all of or Excludes.
Example: This targeting option will target a listener who Is Any of several age groups AND is not a recent home buyer (Excludes)
+ Or Group lets you choose other groups you may want audience to fit in that are not part of the first group. You must still choose the targeting action: Is any of, Is all of or Excludes.
Example: This targeting option will target any of a large age group of listeners OR listeners who fit into any of the specific dog owner segments selected.
You are able to add several targeting subsections to create complex Advanced Audience Targets.
